What is S.T.R.I.P.E.S.?
S.T.R.I.P.E.S. (Student Tigers Rallying, Interacting, and Promoting Education and Service) is a four-day, three-night program designed to prepare first year students for the transition to LSU. At S.T.R.I.P.E.S., students learn what it really means to be an LSU Tiger! Key components include: Academic Success; College Readiness; History & Traditions; Involvement; Leadership Development; Relationship Building; Student Services.
Why should I attend S.T.R.I.P.E.S.?
Students who attended the program in 2010 reported the following reasons for attending S.T.R.I.P.E.S.:
- 99% of participants would recommend S.T.R.I.P.E.S. to other incoming students
- 98% felt program information would be a good resource during their first year of college
- 92% reported feeling more comfortable about starting classes because of new friends they made

How do I register?
All S.T.R.I.P.E.S. participants register online via the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. website by clicking on the "Register here for S.T.R.I.P.E.S." button on the right hand side of the website. Students will need their PAWS username and password in order to access the registration form. Before registering, please be sure to read through all of the Program Information, complete the online registration form, and mail in the payment (check or money order) made payable to the LSU S.T.R.I.P.E.S. program.
Are there any fee waivers or discounts on the registration fee?
Fee waivers covering the cost of the registration ($275) and half of the registration ($137.50) are available for students with financial need only. Student interested in being considered for a S.T.R.I.P.E.S. fee waiver must: indicate interest in being granted a fee waiver on their registration form, register for the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. program no later than Friday, July 1, 2011, and have a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the LSU Student Aid Office prior to registering for S.T.R.I.P.E.S. Students will be notified via email no later than July 8, 2011 whether or not they are granted a fee waiver.
What are the dates for 2011?
Students have the option of attending one of two sessions offered during August. The dates for 2011 are: Session One: August 1-4, 2011 (Monday-Thursday) and Session Two: August 8-11, 2011 (Monday-Thursday).
Where should I stay if I need to arrive on Sunday before S.T.R.I.P.E.S.?
Participants needing to arrive the Sunday prior to the start of S.T.R.I.P.E.S. must indicate this on their registration form. There is an additional fee of $40 for the Sunday night housing, which includes their Sunday dinner and Monday breakfast. Students will be housed in the residence hall being used for the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. program.
If I'm flying or riding a bus to Baton Rouge, is there transportation to LSU?
Unfortunately, S.T.R.I.P.E.S. is not able to provide transportation to and from the LSU campus. Visit the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport online at www.flybtr.com for information on taxis and shuttles.
What should I bring?
Students participating in S.T.R.I.P.E.S. are encouraged to wear clothing that is light and comfortable. The temperature for Louisiana in August will be very hot and humid. Please bring enough clothing for four days. You may want to bring an extra set in case it rains or your clothes get dirty during an activity. Also pack a pair of jeans for night activities. You'll have time to change in the afternoon if needed. You will also need to wear comfortable tennis shoes. Due to the activities scheduled, open toe shoes, sandals, short skirts, short shorts, and dresses are not recommended for the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. program. Where can I park my car during S.T.R.I.P.E.S.?
Students driving themselves to the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. program need to indicate this on the registration form. Parking permits will be made available to those students at check in the day of the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. program. The parking permits are only valid during the time the student is at S.T.R.I.P.E.S. and can be used in any student parking area - designated on the parking map and in the parking lots as blue or green areas. Student staff will be stationed around the Residential College Complex to direct students to the appropriate areas recommended for S.T.R.I.P.E.S. student parking. Please only park in the blue or green lots with your designated S.T.R.I.P.E.S. parking permit hanging from your review mirror. S.T.R.I.P.E.S. is not responsible for cars that are towed or ticketed for parking in undesignated areas. Remember you will need to turn in your car keys to the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. staff once you check in to the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. program.
Are there any rules I need to follow while at the program?
All students participating in the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. program are expected to abide by the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. Rules and Expectations (found under Program Information), the Residential Life Policies, and the Student Code of Conduct.
