Rules & Expectations

Students who participate in S.T.R.I.P.E.S. are required to abide by the following rules and regulations.  If a student does not comply with the rules below, he or she may be asked to leave the program.   In addition, all S.T.R.I.P.E.S. participants are subject to Residential Life policies and the LSU Student Code of Conduct.

 

Alcohol & Drugs
Absolutely NO alcohol or illegal drugs will be allowed at S.T.R.I.P.E.S. for any reason. Students who are taking prescription drugs for medical conditions should include this information on the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. registration form and carry life saving medications or devices with them at all times (e.g., asthma/inhaler).

Car Keys
Car keys will be collected by staff on the first day of S.T.R.I.P.E.S. and returned on the last day of S.T.R.I.P.E.S. If you need to go to your car for any reason, ask a staff member to accompany you to and from your car as a safety precaution.

Cell Phones
While at S.T.R.I.P.E.S., cell phones are to be left in your residence hall room and not to be used at ANY time during the course of the day. Calls can only be made between the hours of 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. If staff members see your cell phone during the day, they will be required to take it and keep it until the end of the day. If parents need to contact students during the day, they are asked to used the emergency contacts listed on our website.

Guests
While you are a participant at S.T.R.I.P.E.S., you will not be allowed to visit or be visited by guests.

Jogging
For participants that like to jog, there will be time each morning prior to the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. events.  Joggers will meet in the lobby of the residence hall and run in a group led by at least one student staff member.  Please do not run alone or at night.

Leaving S.T.R.I.P.E.S.
No one is allowed to leave the program early without permission from a parent or guardian and only in the case of an emergency. 

Lights Out
When staff calls for “Lights Out”, all participants must go to their assigned residence hall rooms for the remainder of the night. 

Locked Doors
Always remember to lock your door when you leave your room. When leaving your room always bring your student ID, keys, and emergency phone numbers. Each small group leader as well as the executive staff will have cell phones if an emergency phone call needs to be made.

Lost Room Keys
If you lose the key to your assigned residence hall room, you will billed for the cost of a lock change ($65).

Participation
Participants are expected to attend all scheduled events.  Some of the events are physically strenuous and several are conducted outdoors, including group relay games.  Participants always engage in these activities by choice.  Students with have concerns about participating in any of the events should speak with their small group leaders, an executive staff member, or professional staff.

Small Groups
It is important for participants to stay with their small groups at all times.  Many of the activities during S.T.R.I.P.E.S. are done within small groups to promote teamwork and assist students in meeting others and acclimating to the University.  If for some reason you need to step away from the group, please get the approval of your small group leader first. 

Smoking
No smoking is allowed in any university building.  Smoking is only allowed during breaks and free time.
