Selection of Program Assistants & Small Group Leaders for 2012

In addition to Executive Staff, S.T.R.I.P.E.S. has passionate, dedicated Program Assistants and Small Group Leaders who support the implementation of the summer sessions.  Program Assistants work with Executive staff in overseeing the logistics of the actual program.  Small Group Leaders facilitate group discussions and activities with the participants.

 

S.T.R.I.P.E.S. Student Staff Information Meetings

While attendance at an info  meeting is not required to apply for S.T.R.I.P.E.S. staff, it is strongly encouraged that you attend ONE meeting.

 

Sunday, January 29 at 6 p.m. (immediately following the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. Reunion) - Allen Hall 102
Tuesday, January 31 at 6:30 p.m. - Allen Hall 139
Wednesday, February 1 at 8 p.m. - Allen Hall 102
Thursday, February 2 at 3:30 p.m. - Allen Hall 139
Friday, February 3 at 11 a.m. - Allen Hall 102

 

All S.T.R.I.P.E.S. 2012 Staff Applications are due MONDAY, FEBRUARY 6.  NO EXCEPTIONS!

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 hours) during the academic year
  • Must be in good academic standing with the University (minimum of a 2.0), preferably with a 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Must not be on academic probation, disciplinary probation or deferred suspension
  • [ NOTE:  Prior experience with S.T.R.I.P.E.S. is NOT required ]

  General Expectations

  • Serve as a positive representative of the University
  •  Attend spring cohesion events and summer trainings/meetings and assigned summer sessions
  • Maintain confidentiality in communication and processes related to program implementation
  • Assist in the recruitment of participants
  • Serve as a positive role model and mentor to participants during and after S.T.R.I.P.E.S
  • Complete at least two (2) hours assisting with preparations for the program prior to S.T.R.I.P.E.S.. summer sessions
  •  Assist in planning, set-up, implementation, clean-up, and evaluation of the program
  •  Abide by and enforce all S.T.R.I.P.E.S. and University rules and regulations
  • Attend all events during S.T.R.I.P.E.S. except with setting up/cleaning up other events
  • Participate in S.T.R.I.P.E.S. reunions and activities during the academic year
  • Assist with other duties as assigned

 Program Assistant Responsibilities

  • Assist your respective executive staff member in the implementation of their sessions
  • Attend ALL program sessions unless preparing for another event
  • Attend all designated Bengal Bound activities with the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. participants
  • Attend the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. reunions in the fall and spring semesters
  • Attend additional S.T.R.I.P.E.S. sponsored events during the academic year (i.e. Homecoming, athletic nights)
  • Other duties as assigned

Small Group Leader Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison between executive staff and the small group participants
  • Facilitate small group discussions, cheers, and activities
  • Assist your small group participants in their transition to LSU
  • Schedule and coordinate at least one small group reunion per session for the fall 2012 semester
  • Contact your small group participants at least once a month during the academic year
  • Keep your small group informed of academic year activities and encourage their participation
  • Attend all designated Bengal Bound activities with your small group participants
  • Attend S.T.R.I.P.E.S. reunions in the fall and spring semesters
  • Attend additional S.T.R.I.P.E.S. sponsored events during the academic year (i.e. Homecoming, athletic nights)
  • Other duties as assigned

Any student interested in a S.T.R.I.P.E.S. staff position is strongly encouraged to attend one Information meeting to receive important information regarding student staff responsilibities and the S.T.R.I.P.E.S. program.
